Bachelor of Education (combined degrees) -- course notices

DET Graduate Recruitment Program and NSW Teachers Federation professional-development days

The University liaises with potential employers and the teacher unions to provide final-year education students with opportunities to learn about the employment environment. The events outlined below are scheduled in Semester One 2009.

NSW DET Graduate Recruitment sessions

Representatives from the NSW Department of Education and Training will visit the University on several occasions to discuss employment opportunities in the department.

During these sessions, DET Graduate Recruitment Program (GRP) personnel will answer questions and distribute information about how to apply for employment under the program. GRP applications open on March 9 and close on May 4. Applicants will be interviewed sometime between June and September 2009 at various locations. Further information about the DET GRP and a form to register for an interview are available on the DET website.

Course progression

Because the combined-degree programs are highly tailored and rigid, students must complete all units required in each year of their degrees. This includes:

  • all compulsory Education units

  • the units of study from the concurrent degree that will count towards the student's chosen teaching area.

Only students who have permission from their academic coordinators will be permitted to progress to the next year of their degree without first having successfully completed every unit of study from the previous year.

Course plans

Listed below are documents that detail the structure of each degree program. The structures differ depending on the combined-degree program being studied and the year in which studies began.

Students uncertain about the degree plan that applies to them should visit the faculty Student Administration Office, Level 3, Education Building A35 to speak with the combined-degrees administrator, Robyn Longhurst.
