DET Graduate Recruitment Program and NSW Teachers Federation professional-development days
The University liaises with potential employers and the teacher unions to provide final-year education students with opportunities to learn about the employment environment. The events outlined below are scheduled in Semester One 2009.
NSW DET Graduate Recruitment sessions
Representatives from the NSW Department of Education and Training will visit the University on several occasions to discuss employment opportunities in the department.
During these sessions, DET Graduate Recruitment Program (GRP) personnel will answer questions and distribute information about how to apply for employment under the program. GRP applications open on March 9 and close on May 4. Applicants will be interviewed sometime between June and September 2009 at various locations. Obsolete units of study special cases
BEd(Primary) students who failed or deferred units of study offered in the "old" course may discover these units are no longer offered. If you are a student taking an obsolete unit of study, take the following administrative steps:
- before enrolling, obtain special permission to officially enrol in the unit and check with the faculty office on level three to ensure this has occurred
- after you have received your timetable, make an appointment with Alyson Simpson to locate the time/day/location of the unit substitute
- within the first week of classes, alert the tutorial leader that you will not appear on their official roster and briefly explain your situation
- just before the end of the semester, remind your tutorial leader that your name will not appear on the list for submitting marks and that she/he will have to manually add your name and result to the roster.
Students who have questions or concerns about this process are invited to telephone or email Alyson Simpson.
Special consideration
Students who have suffered misadventure or serious illness that affected their results in one or more units of study can apply for special consideration by using the appropriate form on the the faculty's Forms page.
