  • physical education (human movement education)
  • Education as a social science
  • professional and curriculum studies (teaching methodology) in PD & HPE
  • other studies in the faculties of Arts or Science

Coursework (degree) options for prospective PD & HPE teachers

The University of Sydney offers an undergraduate qualification for prospective teachers of Personal Development, Health and Physical Education the Bachelor of Education (Secondary: HMHEd) program (4 years full-time study).

Prerequisite and recommended studies: School leavers

No HSC subjects are prescribed for those intending to pursue a career in PD & HPE teaching. However, it is clearly desirable that those intending to study PD & HPE at university, should include it as a subject in their HSC. As well, you should also consider including a Science subject as part of your HSC.
