Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice Supervision

The Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice Supervision is designed to allow social work and other human services and health science practitioners to examine and critique different approaches to professional supervision and identify strategies and skills required in the application of both staff and student supervision.

Staff maintain a broad range of community involvements, including sitting on local, state and national advisory boards, serving on community welfare organisations' boards, and providing advice to a range of welfare agencies.

Structure of the Program

The Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice Supervision program is taught over 1 semester of full time study (2 semesters of part time study). It only offers in July semester for international students.

Students undertake 4 units of study, including:

  • SCWK 6927 - Professional Practice Supervision
  • SCWK 6917 - Practice Development

and 2 elective units of study from the School of Social Work and Policy Studies.

Entry requirements

To apply for the Graduate Certificate in Professional Practice Supervision, you should possess a Bachelor of Social Work degree, or related degree in Humanities, Social Sciences or Health Sciences,

plus at least one year's full-time employment in a related field.

Furthering your studies

Students can complete 2 more units of study (total of 6) to progress to a Diploma of either Policy Studies or Social Work

Students with a credit average can complete 2 more units of study (total of 8) to progress to a Masters degree in either Policy Studies or Social Work.

Local Students

Local 2009 fees are AUD$1,620 per unit of study.

International Students

International 2009 fees for the Masters program are AUD$21,600 p.a. (for a year of full time study - 48 credit points or equivalent). Fees are reduced proportionally for students undertaking the Gradate Diploma or Graduate Certificate.
