About the Arts, English and Literacy Education Research Network
Welcome to the homepage of the Arts, English and Literacy Education (AELE) Research Network at the University of Sydney. The Network was established in 2006 and brings together teachers, researchers, policy-makers and others in the fields of the creative arts and English.
Aims & Objectives
The aim of the AELE Research Network is to lead, initiate, support and disseminate research in Arts, English and literacy education, thereby promoting excellence in scholarship and teaching in these domains across all educational sectors.
The Network involves national and international partnerships. The interdisciplinary nature of the Network strengthens the relationships among Arts, English and literacy researchers, scholars and teachers in the Faculty and beyond by:
- building on existing knowledge in the areas of Arts, English and literacy education;
- convening research conferences, symposia and other events as a means of promoting inquiry and professional discourse;
- developing strong strategic links with professional and partner associations;
- promoting excellence in Arts, English and literacy education in the wider community;
- continuing to develop national and international research networks with researchers, scholars and teachers from other leading institutions; and
- responding with evidence-based research to policy initiatives, government inquiries and the teaching professional in the areas of Arts, English and literacy education.
